Villa 06

The ethereal austerity of Japanese minimalism is the inspiration for the design of this house. It is strictly laid out on a grid of 3.3 by 3.3 meters, with windows of 3 by 3 meters.

The home’s most striking feature is a 70-foot swimming pool that cuts through the first floor of the house. About a third of the pool’s length is covered by the house, with the remaining two-thirds jutting out on either side. Part of the pool floor is made of glass, which brings natural light filtered through the water to the kitchen below.

In the backyard, another swimming pool reflects the structure of the facade. Sliding doors with horizontal slats decorate the windows of the south facade. It consists of a fixed part at the bottom, which forms the balustrade, and an upper part that you can tilt upwards like an awning.

The windows on the north facade have frosted glass, which is repeated in the interior walls. These frosted glass walls divide the room into shower, toilet, sink, cupboard and desk areas.
