Stilst<\/span><\/span><\/h1>\n

Stilst approaches design not as the creation of singular objects or spaces, but as a continuous investigation into how form emerges from conditions rather than intention.<\/p>\n

Every project, on the scale of both space and object, starts from a system: a framework of rules, relationships, and material behavior. The work develops within this framework. Form is not imposed, but arises as a result of an underlying logic.<\/p>\n

This process often introduces a tension between what something appears to be and how it is actually constructed. Wat vanzelfsprekend oogt, blijkt conditioneel; wat eenvoudig lijkt, is gestructureerd; wat stabiel aanvoelt, berust op precieze relaties tussen elementen.<\/p>\n

Material is not used as a finish, but as an active component. It records process, time, and usage, and thereby becomes part of the meaning of the work.<\/p>\n

Across scales, the work operates as a set of spatial articulations\u2014interventions that sharpen the legibility of a space without dominating it.<\/p>\n

Rather than a collection of separate outcomes, Stilst\u2019s work can be understood as a series of manifestations of a single, consistent approach.<\/p>\n

Designing meaningful, timeless environments lies at the core of my work\u2014across the scales of architecture, interior, and object.<\/p>\n

After studying architecture at Delft University of Technology, I worked at several practices before establishing my independent studio in 2009. What began with a furniture collection has evolved into a broader practice focused on complete interiors.<\/p>\n

My work is defined by a restrained formal language with a refined character, where warmth and precision coexist. Each project is aimed at achieving an inherent quality\u2014spaces that surprise, yet feel enduring and self-evident over time.<\/p>\n
