Destination villa
THE COSMOLOGIST is a destination villa in Tulum, designed as an architectural instrument for silence, depth, and presence. More than a home, it functions as a place for reflection. A place where architecture, landscape, light, and atmosphere come together in one cohesive sensory experience.
Cenote space
At the heart lies a circular void: a cenote-like space connecting an underground water level to the open sky. This vertical axis structures the entire design and allows zenithal light to penetrate deep into the home during the day, while at night the water surface transforms into a mirror of the cosmos. In this way, a continuous dialogue is created between earth, water, and sky. In the center stands a contemporary sculpture on a pedestal, rooted in Maya iconography (the image shown is a placeholder).
Central void
The villa consists of three separate volumes organized around this central atrium. Each volume is carefully positioned to soften the boundary between building and landscape, creating a sequence of transitions rather than enclosed spaces. Material selection and proportions are guided by restraint and clarity.
Mayan heritage
Rooted in the cosmological worldview of the ancient Maya and inspired by the region’s cenotes, THE COSMOLOGIST positions architecture as a mediator between the earthly and the cosmic. It proposes a way of living that is attuned to cycles of light, reflection, and perception.
Beyond Luxury
The project is intended for people who move beyond conventional notions of luxury: entrepreneurs, creatives, and leaders who value silence, emotional resonance, and spatial clarity. Instead of abundance, it offers alignment: a place where external performance gives way to inner orientation.
Here, Tulum is not a destination for relaxation, but a threshold, an environment in which architecture becomes a means of transformation.
