Kleinmann architectuur loft rotterdam

Kleinmann architecture is an architectural firm in Rotterdam founded by Pieter Kleinmann. After studying Architecture at Delft University of Technology, he lived abroad for many years. He worked at architectural firms in Antwerp(Vincent van Duysen), London, New York(Gabellini Shepard) and Singapore. For Pieter, a building’s interior and furnishings are inseparable from its architectural design. Consequently, he designs his buildings down to the smallest details.

Minimalist loft

I sought him out in a minimalist loft he designed in Rotterdam-Kralingen that was recently completed. The original building dates from the late 19th century and has a columned structure with high ceilings. The new layout is largely open with some cleverly placed walls and kitchenette that define the space. The kitchen unit is completely stainless steel as well as the sink in the bathroom and the toilet. The minimalist design shows Pieter’s eye for detail and proportion. The color palette is white with varying shades of gray. The furnishing consists mostly of vintage furniture that adds another layer of sophistication to the minimalist interior.
